Clothing: Currently Hotaru wears a orangish-brown button-up tank top (which has a Hyuuga symbol patch), a weird reddish brown skirt-thing that slants diagonally, and black capris under that. Her sandals are dark red and go up just below her knees, like boots. She wears bandages on her arms that stop about mid-upper arm, and her hitae-ate is tied around her right arm. She DOES have the branch house curse seal, and wears bandages over her forehead for that reason.
History: The story of Hotaru's conception is actually kind of funny. (For everyone not involved, I guess.) After Neji got defeated and was laying on the ground dying and thinking about bird and whatever, Tayuya came and raped him. And then by MAGIC, she didn't die later, and gave birth to Hotaru, who was then shoved into a cryogenic freezing tube for (possibly creepy) future purposes. Well... and then rocks fell and everyone in Sound died and Hotaru was forgotten about. Until an Orochimaru lab was cleaned out, the ninja involved saw Neji's name linked to her file, and dropped her off on his doorstep. And then he raised her and never told her any of this story.
The rest of the Hyuuga clan pretty much stuck their noses up at poor little bastard-child-with-bright-pink-hair Hotaru. So in response she developed a very "fuck them whatever" attitude. And became obsessed with training, proving herself, and being the best. Annnnd that was how she became number one rookie. She didn't form many connections in academy, which led to her being a little cocky and blindly assuming she was better than everyone else.
Then the war happened. The war was a really cathartic experience for Hotaru. It brought her closer to her teammates, whom she shunned at first, and knocked her off of her high horse. No, being number one rookie wasn't everything. Although now instead of thinking she's better than everyone else, she has serious self-confidence issues...
Personality: Hotaru is interesting. She's deathly serious, and sometimes getting a laugh out of her can be like pulling teeth. When she isn't being overly serious, she's usually flying into a violent curse-filled rage. Fuck is one of her favorite words. :) She tends to look at the best qualities of everyone else, but has a total blindspot when it comes to herself. She's good at following orders, but not necessarily strategizing. Hotaru can be extremely curious about the hows and whys of things, and asks questions until you want to punch her in the face. And she has a bit of a morbid imagination. Sometimes she feels like a robot, because she's reserved so much of the time and not accustomed to openly emoting like the rest of her team does. Also, she tries to denial her way out of a lot of her problems.
When she's not diligently training, she's knitting things. Ugly things.
